increasing daily activity

Some modern conveniences have convenienced us almost to a fault. Sure it's great to not HAVE to walk everywhere or run down your dinner, but these activities helped us to stay active and in shape. Not to worry, there are easy ways to stay active on a regular basis.
TAKE THE STAIRS
When presented with options of stairs versus elevator or escalator, choose the stairs. Even if you cannot make it all the way to your final floor, take as many flights as you can. It will get easier, and you'll be able to take more!

TACKLE CHORES
Now there's even more incentive to get some things done around the house! When you're dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning the gutters, mowing the lawn, etc, you're burning calories. It's a win-win situation! A real two-fer!

PLAY WITH THE KIDS
Next time the kiddos ask you to play, say YES! Running around and being active with the kids is a great way to burn some energy! The kids will be so happy, and it helps create memories that will last them a lifetime. We can pause for 15 minutes and play.

LAUGH
Let stresses go with a good hearty laugh. Living a happy life with less stress will keep you up and about, ready to take on the days and increase your activity. Do not hold on to anger, learn to free yourself and let things go.

GET ACTIVE AT WORK
If you have a desk job, do not sit all day. Find opportunities to stand and work. At lunch, eat for a few minutes then spend some time walking laps or doing the stairs. If your office has a gym, go to it. Try some stuff out.

PARK FURTHER AWAY
Front row parking isn't all it's cracked up to be, right? Park farther from the door to get a few extra steps in for the day. Besides, you'll save time not scouring the parking lot for those coveted spots!

LET LOOSE, DANCE
Getting down to some of your favorite grooves is a great way to get activity during the day. Dancing and singing can also be a great stress reliever. So go ahead and boogie down whenever you can!

GO FOR A WALK
Going for walks can be a relaxing way to burn calories. Take in all the beautiful nature outdoors, or even take a stroll around the office or mall. It is a great way to clear your head and reduce stress as well.

ENJOY HOBBIES
Doing your hobbies makes you happy, right? It's difficult at times but find time to do them. Even if your hobbies do not require physical exertion, the happiness and stress-relieving effects of doing something for yourself will energize you to do activity later.

ADD IN EXERCISE
Some activities can be enhanced with exercises that require little extra effort. For example, you can do calf raises while washing dishes, curls as you put away groceries, run up and down the stairs in your home a couple of extra times a day. There are plenty of opportunities to burn extra calories.
