So You've Set a Goal, Now What?: Introduction

Take a deep breath in your nose and out of your mouth. Now imagine yourself exactly where you want to be and doing exactly what you want to be doing. Are you at that location? Are you doing what you're imagining yourself doing? Do you feel you're where you want to be in your life right now? If so, that's great. However, I imagine there's still room for more goals. On the other hand, if you're not where you want to be, what do you feel like is holding you back? Setting goals and dreaming big and small can be a mind-racking experience. You have all these plans. You get excited as you think about all the possibilities, then negativity and doubt set in. You begin to wonder what others will think if you were to tell them your big plans. You fear the ridicule and embarrassment of failure. You're afraid that you may not have what it takes to accomplish what you've set to accomplish. You start doubting yourself, and all the excitement and enthusiasm you once had for accomplishing your goal fades as fear takes over. You retreat swiftly from your dreamland and back into your reality, wondering if your dreamland is even capable of becoming your reality. Well, I just want to say yes it is and you can do it!

I am an energetic, go-getter when it comes to goals. I am always thinking big and dreaming. Sometimes it feels like almost to a fault, but then I realize again that dreaming big is not a bad thing. Nevertheless, I've had to learn to focus on the seed. I'm always envisioning this giant sequoia tree when I haven't even found a seed to plant. Working on my business has helped me tremendously in finding seeds. Envision the tree, never let the tree leave your sight, but find the seed. Figure out where and how to start, then grow from there. I find enjoyment in setting goals, deciding what I need to do to attain them, and then going for it. It's a blessing to be able to work towards goals that you value and find important. It's fulfilling to work towards a destination that sometimes may seem out of reach, but gets clearer in view as you get closer and closer to reaching it. It's exciting. With my business, I hope to help as many people as I can reach the goals that they set for themselves in attaining a healthy lifestyle. It is so important that we take care of ourselves and others, as well, the best we can. So I say, for whatever positive goals you've set for yourself, go for it. One foot in front of the other.

I believe, wholeheartedly, that you have the abilities to achieve goals you set for yourself. There are some keys to doing it. Below are some tips:

1. Be honest with yourself about what you're looking to do, and the best way to go about it for you.

2. Get out of your own way.

3. Set realistic goals.

4. Know what's motivating your goals.

5. Have an understanding of what you need to be successful in achieving any particular goal.

6. Visualize your success, but don't waste too much time doing that.

7. Don't just dream, do it.

8. Develop the support you need, and know when to implement it.

9. Realize it's okay to pivot on your journey to success.

I truly hope that you don't hold back in your positive thinking, dreaming, and setting goals for yourself. You are capable, more than capable, of achieving what you dream. After all, you thought it up. Why not go for it? You will learn so much about yourself and those around you along your journey. Now take a deep breath. Begin to visualize the goals you have for yourself, then get out pen and paper or whatever on which you prefer to take notes. Write down a few goals for yourself. You've got what it takes to get there. Just start doing it!
